My Birthday Wish: IS Foundation Donation

My 28th birthday is coming up (February 4) and (online) friends and (far away) family have asked what I want to receive for my birthday. As much as I appreciate everybody wanting to buy me a gift for my birthday, I’m not asking for any presents this year! I rather want to ask everyone to donate to a charity I really support; The IS Foundation.

The IS Foundation aims to bring people together and collaborate with them to protect and preserve our planet. A few focus areas are habitats, energy and animals. I strongly believe in protecting our beautiful planet, conservation of habitats and biodiversity. That’s why my charity of choice is the IS Foundation. You can read more about the IS Foundation here.

It doesn’t matter how big or small your donation for my birthday is, even $1 can make a difference! The IS Foundation donation page can be found here. I really can’t explain how much it would mean to me if you donated for my birthday, so thank you in advance and of course come and have some birthday cake on February 4 :)

Happy Green 2011

Happy 2011 everyone! I know this might seem a little late as we are already on day 3 of the new year but better late than never ;) .

2011 is a good year to ‘go green’ (actually it’s as good as any). It doesn’t matter how big or small your efforts for a greener world are it matters that you try!

So if you make small (every day) changes to your life such as taking shorter showers to save water and energy, walk or ride a bike for shorter distances rather than taking a car or bring your own bags to the stores instead of bringing home 100 new plastic bags it all adds up to create a greener world.

You could of course also make bigger changes in your life to help create that green world. Things like getting involved in local environmental organisations to help create a greener community, volunteering or donating (or both ;) ) to a larger (national or world wide) organisation such as the IS Foundation or Conservation International to name a few, are big steps, that take a little dedication but will be worth it to help create a planet we all can enjoy for years to come.

I wish you all a wonderful, happy, healthy and GREEN 2011 but most of all I wish for all of your children, our children and the generations to come to be able to enjoy a green, sustainable planet!
