I’ve been really excited about this ever since I heard about it, and now it’s official! The Ian Somerhalder Foundation has officially launched! My green heart skipped a beat when I read about the launch this morning
. As regular visitors to my blog (or my twitter account) will know, I’m very big on everything green, conservation & biodiversity and animals. The protection of our planet and animals is high up in my agenda, it’s something I try to implement in my every day life. So to be part of a foundation that is dedicated to both our planet and our furry friends is just amazing.
The IS Foundation (created by Ian Somerhalder) wants to raise funds to support projects that help protect our planet and animals. The best thing is that it’s not (just) about raising money for funds but also to come together with like minded people and actually be part of the movement to make a change.
The Foundation is launched right before Ian’s 32nd birthday. His birthday wish this year is not to receive gifts but donations to the IS Foundation instead. As I said before it’s not only about making donations, it’s about joining a movement to make a change. To protect our planet and the animals. So if you want to stand up and make a change for the better, something we will all benefit from (because what are we without our ecosystems, we need to protect our planet to be able to survive) please join the IS Foundation.
You can follow the IS Foundation on twitter, “like” it on Facebook, join the Foundation (at the bottom of the page) or -of course- make a donation (via PayPal) or do everything! It’s time to come together and make a big green change!
And with the holidays coming up, I want to ask my family and friends (who’ve been asking me what I want for Christmas this year for a while already) not to get me anything but to make a donation to the IS Foundation instead. It would make me very happy because I know the money will be well spend in protecting the beautiful planet we live on.

350 eARTh has begun! November 20-28 350 eARTh will take place and it will be the first ever art exhibit that’s large enough to be seen from space!
People all over the world are joining in on (local) projects to create art to ask for awareness and action on climate change. So far all the photos from all over the world look beautiful, and you can take part too! Just go to the 350 eARTh site and find a project near you, or start your own!
Come and join the fun while asking for action to reach 350ppm!!

Don’t know what to do, or where to go with your friends this Saturday evening? How does an awesome party sound to you?
Tonight, November 13, there is a party called Bash On The Bayou at the Castine Center in Mandeville, Louisiana! All the proceeds from this awesome event will benefit the homeless animals from St Tammany’s Humane Society! So while you get your grove on and have a great time, you will help hundreds of animals. The Humane Society does great work in taking care of these homeless animals who are in need of a forever home (and they are a no-kill shelter!).
There will be great music (Chelsea Field, The Distractions, Christian Serpas & Ghost Town, We3), an open bar, silent auction and it’s fully catered. The Chairman for the evening will be Ian Somerhalder.
So if you want to have a wonderful evening with good music, food and hang with Ian while you help so many homeless animals, you should come to the Castine Center in Mandeville tonight! The party starts at 7PM and you can get your tickets at the door for $75.
For those of you who read my blog more often, you know I have a weak spot for Louisiana and animals. So I really wish I could go to this party. I have really tried to fit it into my schedule but I couldn’t work it out and I’m sad I have to miss this awesome event. If you have a chance to go you really should, I hope to be able to go next time around!
If (like me) you can’t go but would really like to know what’s going on at the party you can tune in to Magic 101.9 for up-to-date event coverage!
