My OCRD

Since I really got vocal about my recycling and my green lifestyle (as I’ve always ‘silently’ recycled & cared for our planet) I’ve been the pun of many jokes. Friends and co-workers alike seem to think it’s really funny what I do. Yet at the same time, and this is what I was aiming for, it rubs off on them too!

Plastic cups are being reused again and again until people go home, plastic bags and normal waste no longer seem to disappear into paper waste areas out of sheer laziness. Imagine having to get up out of a seat to walk a few steps to a trash can *gasp*. And the best part; people have told me they (try to) apply recycling at home as well as paying more attention to ecofriendlier things (such as switching electronic appliances off, buying saving lights etc)

My recycle mania is jokingly called OCRD Obesessive Compulsive Recycling Disorder (that probably has something to do with the fact I take my plastic waste home from work to dispose of it properly ;) ). But as long as my recycling & living green (buying organic/local products) rubs off on other people and they start caring for our planet too it’s well worth having OCRD or being called ‘organic woman’!

So I’m happy I was able create awareness in the people around me, and I hope they will, in their turn, inspire others to go for the right choice; going green!

Obesessive? I dont know how you spell that

I don’t think I’m obsessive, for me it’s a lifestyle. By taking the easy route and not recycle etc for whatever reason, we destroy our planet while it’s our duty / obligation to protect it as much as possible

It’s good to raise awareness and of course people might be uncomfortable at first but a lot of times, people choose to not be green not because they don’t want to but because they’re misinformed. So it’s good to put information out there. However, (not saying that you are AT ALL!) but don’t be too pushy out there.

I make a conscious effort to be green but it’s so discouraging at times when people who are REALLY green won’t give me any credit for the changes I’ve made but continue to brutally criticize the parts of my life that need work. I’m more likely to be interested in following the ways of those who live green lifestyles and are more than happy to talk about how I can do it when I ask rather than those who think I’ll be encouraged with their scoffing at my not-so-green ways.

But regardless, kudos for being green, living green and informing people how to do the things you do!
