A few days ago I was directed towards CrowdRise via twitter. I never heard of it but after checking it out it seemed like something I really wanted, no, needed, to be part of. It’s an online community with profiles of people trying to create awareness, get the word out and raise money for projects they believe in and/or have set up themselves.

Because I feel so powerless in the whole BP oilspill disaster, as I live so far away to physically do something, the only thing I can do is spread the word about it and create awareness. But now, I can do something else too! Sophia Bush is running for the Gulf in November and by doing that, she hopes to raise money for the Gulf.
I’ve joined the team online on Crowdrise and already donated myself. It doesn’t matter how much you donate, every little bit helps! So I want to ask you all to go to the official Run For The Gulf site (on crowdrise) and donate if you can! It can make such a difference.

And don’t think that the Gulf oilspill is ‘so far away’ from your home that it doesn’t matter. It does! Environmental disasters matter to everyone on this planet no matter where it happens en no matter where you live.
