REMEMBRANCE OF THE DEAD
Yesterday, May 4, it was rememberance of the dead. On that day we commemorate the military and civilians who died for our country or during peace missions since World War 2.
Every year there is a service on the Dam in Amsterdam to which our Queen and other members of the royal family attend. At 8 PM there always is a 2 minute silence out of respect to those who passed.
Unfortunately someone decided to ruin it yesterday. During the 2 minute silence some guy screamed very loudly causing a panic. People started running and trying to get away from whatever he was screaming for. Our Queen and the members of the royal family were rushed to safety and lots of people, including children, got injured by a crowd in panic. Pushing and shoving to get away.
Two men were arrested, the screamer and a man with a briefcase who was later released. At first it was thought they worked together; the man dropping the case to which the second would yell to start the panic. Apparently the guy with the briefcase had nothing to do with it.
I can understand the crowd’s response, especially after what (could have) happened on Times Square in NYC last weekend. I hate that it happened yesterday though, May 4 means so much to so many people it’s just very disrespectful to purposely interrupt it like that
.
Today is Liberation Day, I really hope my country can celebrate 65 years of freedom without any incidents. Today my thoughts and gratefulnes go to those who helped give us the freedom we sometimes take for granted. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me (us) the best gift of all; to grow up and live our lifes in peace and freedom!

I don’t think we’ve had many problems on our day here, people who don’t want to take part tend to stay away. It’s natural that some people aren’t going to relate to it, they’ve been born since it happened and it hasn’t effected their lives in ways they can recognise, but for the ones that are you need to think about how they feel.
I hate when people can’t act like a civil person in situations or during remembrance like that. It’s so sad, but people in the world today are pretty petty and immature if you ask me.

Geez, some people just have no common respect or those around them. Sorry that someone had to go and ruin it. Hopefully today will be better.
