Quilt Wash

I washed my QBee quilt today, which was long overdue. I deleted about 50 patches so now it looks kind of bare. Especially if you consider all those years I’ve been in the Qbee already. But I have some pending trades so hopefully I’ll be able to add a few new patches to my quilt soon :) .

I have been feeling a little under the weather for the past few days. My throat is sore, my head hurts and I started coughing this morning. If it was just my throat  I wouldn’t be too worried as that’s generally a sign my arthritis is acting up but because it’s more things and the symptoms are kind of flu-like I’m paying extra attention.

One of my colleagues already is ill with the flu, and with this Mexican flu spreading like crazy, my practically non-existing immune system, the warning signs up at work and the combination of the symptoms I do worry a little. If things get worse or if they aren’t better by Tuesday or so I think I’m going to have to visit the doctor’s office, just to be sure! Better safe than sorry I guess.

Is there Mexican flu in your area, and if so what you doing to try and prevent yourself from getting it?

I really should join the Quilting Bee. I always mean to look into it and never do.

There were some outbreaks of the flu in the school I worked in, but thankfully I didn’t get it. Nor did anyone else I know.

I keep thinking about joining the QBee. I used to be into trading card games but having lost much of the interest I’m not sure I’d be dedicated enough.

The phrase “swine flu!” is the only one uttered when someone’s ill here though most people reckon it’s just a cold. Whenever I’m around those who are feeling ill I tend to use the positive thinking method or if I start feeling icky take a tablet. Hope you feel better soon :)

I live in Melbourne, and last I heard we had a lot of swine flu here (something like 60% of all swine flu in Australia). One of my friends came down with it, but luckily (from everyone else’s perspective) she came down with it in the holidays, so no one else at my school was infected. That includes me, I think.

Of course, every time anyone gets sick with anything remotely respiratory, people all cry, “Ahhh! It’s swine flu!!” I’ve had two colds since this outbreak of swine flu began. Lots of teasing ensued.

I’m not really fussed about defending myself from swine flu, TBH. It sounds pretty much harmless (I mean, as frustrating as any illness is, sure, but in the long-term, it seems harmless), and if the virus mutates into something worse, hopefully having had the more harmless version would grant me immunity.

I haven’t heard about anyone with that kind of flu here recently but there was so much hysteria about it just a few months back. My mom was the one who was really paranoid about it. I’m very careful enough as it is so I didn’t have to take extra precautions but my brother was sick one Sunday (so she couldn’t send him to see the family doctor) with a fever and my mom took him to the emergency room! It was kind of embarrassing cuz it turned out that he only had a tonsilitis.. Haha

I do hope you’ll feel better soon! Get lots of rest and take in lots of fluids. I hate, hate, hate being sick. I mean, I suppose you can say I was sick recently too… I had the stomach flu right before we went camping this weekend. That was NOT fun at all!
