I have two words: Susan Boyle. WOW. I have heard so much about this participant in Britain’s Got Talent, although I never got around to actually hitting up some videos to see what the buzz is about.
Generally I’m not into any of those shows looking for talent, but tonight I’m a couch potato with nothing to watch but Holland’s Got Talent. It reminded me of Susan Boyle and I figured I look up some videos. Needles to say that I wasn’t disappointed.
I can’t really describe what it is exactly but her performance on her first audition for the show brought me to tears. Not because it’s so bad but because it’s so moving! You can see that people are judging her as soon as she walks on stage, or even before that with interviews. Surely she doesn’t look like Britney Spears (or any other pop princess) but she sure has a (better) voice on her. As soon as she opens her mouth to sing, the audience goes crazy, and she is proving everyone wrong. So once again, don’t judge a book by its cover!
Enjoy the video, and I hope she moves you as much as she moved me. I’m a FAN!
Unfortunately I can’t add this video to the post because that option is blocked on YouTube, so I have to link it instead.

I was absolutely blown away when I saw her performance too..but isn’t it sad that it took the perfect voice for people to accept her? If she’d been a terrible singer, people would have kept laughing at her and judging her on her appearance alone. HuffPost did a good entry about it – http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dennis-palumbo/what-if-susan-boyle-could_b_187804.html
It’s extremely sad Amanda that people will make fun of others just because they don’t fit in the box that says ‘perfect looks’ and that they won’t accept others unless they have a talent. Thanks for the link btw
My friend showed me the video, I was blown away too.
I completely agree with your post! So harsh that everybody is so judging on looks, yet the audition still shows that everyone has a quality, and maybe we shouldn’t be so quick to judge. In the end, everyone loves her anyway! So it’s a good thing this video is out, really
I know what you mean about people being so mean just because she looked the way she looked. However, what made me sad is that people only became more accepting because she had a voice that blew everyone away. Do people really have to have one AMAZING quality so the masses could spare them some kindness?
