Happy Earth Day
I can see some of you rolling their eyes already. Ooh no, not another ‘greenie’. But yes, another greenie. Today is Earth Day, so it makes perfect sense to post about it.
I’ve always loved nature and cared for the environment. But just caring isn’t enough, everyone needs to take action to protect it. If we keep ruining the environment and continue polluting the air we breathe than the children of the future have no way of living on this planet. It will be too polluted and their ancestors (which is us!) will be to blame…
There are many things you can do to protect the environment and they don’t have to be costly things but simple things you can do every day. Things that are even good for your own health.
1. Separate your trash : Whenever you throw things away, just check before dumping it in the bin. Is it green waste, plastic, glass, paper or other waste. It doesn’t take very long for each of the above mentioned groups to be separated and thrown in their own bin. No longer than dumping it all in one.
2. Change your light bulbs : Save energy by switching your inefficient light bulbs. This might sound more expensive than it really is. Replacement bulbs cost more when you buy them, but they last longer than regular bulbs AND save energy so your energy bill will go down.
3. Take a bag with you : When you buy things in (grocery) stores you usually get a plastic bag with them. Most people end up collecting these bags and never use them again, eventually throwing them away again. There are many decent, strong bags for sale that last long and are produced in an environmentally friendly way. It’s not much work to put one of those bags in your handbag (or take it with you another way) and use those instead of the plastic ones you get in stores. It’s worth a few funny looks if you cut down on your waste.
4. Leave your car : When you can, leave your car at home and walk or cycle where you need to be. Public transport might be an option too if walking or cycling is too far. At least it cuts down on polluting the air.
I do all of the above and I completely understand that it’s not always possible to leave your car, or change your bulbs all at once. But trying never hurt anyone and most people just can’t be bothered to at least try to change their ways for the better.
What do you do to contribute to save the environment? Or if you don’t, what stops you from doing it?

I try to live as green as possible too ^^
[...] same to be special days for all kind of things all around the globe. Just two days ago it was Earth Day and today is (unofficially?) Test Animal Day. Now I have to say that I’m not planning on [...]
I brought one of the energy friendly light bulbs and when I dropped it by accident the bulb shattered . Suffice to say that I wasn’t impressed and I haven’t brought one since .

I love that you did this! The tips you listed are all very simple and very doable. I already do all of them
I hope more people will do them too!
