Austrian House of Horror

Nearly a year and a half after the escape of Natascha Kamphusch from her Austrian Horror House where she was held captive in a basement and being sexually assaulted for 8 years, Austria wakes up to another horror house.

The now 73-year-old Josef Fritzl has held his daughter Elisabeth captured in a basement below his house for 24 year. Not only did he lock her up, he sexually abused her and fathered 7 children by her. You would think that the horror would end there, but no. Three of the children lived upstairs with his wife, and none of them had a clue of what was going on downstairs in the basement. Where the other three children lived with their mother, never seeing daylight.

I can hear you count in your head; three and three makes six, what happened to child number 7? Well, that’s where the story (in my eyes anyway) gets even more gruesome; In 1996 Elisabeth gave birth to twins, one of the babies died and Fritzl removed the body of the infant to burn it in an oven.

This man must be a real psychopath, he had to plan this carefully and build the basement to keep his daughter captive in. At the same time he had to keep up his normal life with his wife so no one would notice his secret in the basement. And no one did….

The story is truly unbelievable and horrible. It’s incomprehensible that there are people out there who can do this to others. Not just to strangers (which is bad enough) but even to their own blood. I really don’t have words for this, I can only hope and pray that Elisabeth, her children and Fritzl’s wife (if she really wasn’t aware) can cope with this and somehow will be able to get a ‘normal’ life.

I started reading your post in the middle and I thought you were talking about some kind of crazy thriller movie. Then, I realized that you weren’t. =/

That’s sick and just unbelievable… 24 years?! How did he manage to get away with that?
