Or so I hope anyway. Miraculously everything seemed to be fixed on Wednesday night, yes the night before THE BIG DAY. The day the repairman would come in to fix our TV and Internet connection.
It seems to be that one of the wires at the bottom of the meter cupboard where the provider cables enter the house was moving about in the socket. When the meter cupboard was emptied on Wednesday night to make some space for the repairman, the wire was noticed but ignored, until it was accidentally touched and lights started flickering. Soon after everything was back to normal
That of course is good, but we wondered what the reason was of this cable movement; and low and behold, the way things look now is that when the previous repair man came down to install Digital TV they moved some cables about to place a amplifier somewhere. This particular cable was moved in such a way that it has to go up to the amplifier (or come down from it) and it’s a bit to heavy to hang such a length so it moves about a bit and therefore looses connection at any given time without it showing as a broken / disconnected cable.
Good thing we caught it before the repairman came down again, because it would have cost a shit load of money to just get him down here for a heavy cable.
I hope the connection stays this way now, as it’s perfect again. The cable is now supported so it should stay in its place. Meanwhile I have a lot of catching up to do, on SB as well as on my favourite blogs.
