Stalked?!
After my little encounter with the escaped dog in the neighbor’s yard I feared going into the field to put the horses out. Luckily the dog hasn’t shown up anymore and it seems to have gone back home.
It must have been a funny sight for anyone watching as I tried to put the horses out the next day. Usually it’s done in a few minutes but the day after the scare it took me a little longer…
- get some hay from the stable
- slowly open gate to look for scary dog
- quickly throw the hay on the field
- run back to the gate and close it
- open gate again to check for dog
- run up to the hay and distribute it a little
- run back to gate and close it again
- check for dog again
- distribute the hay a little more
- run back to the stable (after being sure the dog is not there) and let horses out
And that’s my 10 step guide to putting horses out the day after meeting an unknown dog. I bet it was something for ‘Funniest Home Videos’ if you seen me do it.
Just when I figured the dog was gone, I had another ‘scare’ this morning. When I opened the bedroom curtains I looked straight into a dog’s face again. This time the dog was sitting across the street on top of a container staring at me like I was breakfast again. No need to run or be scared though, all I could do was laugh;

And just for the record; it’s not the same dog as last time…
