Scared to Death
Anyone who knows me, knows that I love animals. But what most people don’t know is that I’m scared of strange dogs, especially when they are big and scary looking…
This morning I went outside to put the horses out like I do every morning; Put Adanto’s halter on, getting hay out of the stable and putting it in the field so they have something extra to eat and check the water before putting them out.
The last thing I had to do today was the hay, so I’m walking to the field with the hay on my shoulder and try to keep myself from slipping and falling head first in the mud. So far so good as I make it to the feeding place. As I’m distributing the hay I feel like I’m being watched but don’t take to much notice of it. There are a lot of houses around the field after all and anyone could just be standing behind a window looking out giving me an odd feeling, but as soon as I turn around I see a really big dog standing behind the neighbor’s fence.
I’m scared to death and I feel my heart beat in my throat. Our neighbor doesn’t have a dog, let alone a big (scary looking!) Rottweiler that’s looking at me like I’m breakfast! I somehow managed to get myself together and did the stupidest thing ever; turn around and run. You’re never supposed to do that, as it targets you as bate. Luckily the fence holds the dog away from me (he’s still staring at me) and I close the field gate behind me.
The fence the dog was behind was actually open yesterday all day because the horses where on the neighbor’s field. After calling my dad to find out if the dog was there yesterday (which it wasn’t) I call my sister to ask if she can come give me a hand with the horses, she’s not scared of dogs and she doesn’t mind checking it out for me.
By the time she and her boyfriend got here the dog was long gone and I looked like a freaking fool. I’m very happy the dog seems to be gone. I think he belongs to someone a few doors down and he was able to escape the garden to end up in our neighbor’s garden.
Good thing I didn’t have to go to the toilet at the time of the dog encounter, as I would have pissed myself…

I’m not really scared of dogs, but if a great big scary looking one comes bounding up to me, I get scared!
I would’ve been shaking for DAYS if I had been you!
Happy New Year, by the way
