Forces from Above

Apparently nappies aren’t only good to use on babies (yes babies again!) but it can also save lives. According to a New Zealand article a 16 year old student, who was skewered through the neck in a car crash, was saved by a passing nurse who put nappies around his neck to absorb the blood. The branch torn an internal jugular vein but missed all other vital organs.

This guy was really lucky, it could have been so much worse. He really must have had an angel on his shoulder. I guess if you know that the branch was millimeters away from his vertebrae and spinal cord, oesophagus, larynx, carotid arteries, and one jugular vein he really had someone looking out for him.

The driver of the car was uninjured. Which, of course, is good but because of his irresponsible driving (yes trying to go around a corner doing 150 km h is irresponsible, and that’s an understatement) his passenger was badly injured. And I wouldn’t call someone putting my life at risk like that a friend of mine…

Unfortunately there were some casualties; the birds sitting in the tree couldn’t get away because of the hard and fast impact and died.

What’s a nappie?? Is it like a diapper??

Aww… that’s a very lucky story for sure…. that must have been scary and the teen was really lucky that it was a nurse that passed by.
