Left Of Center

It’s strange how the most random thoughts can hit you at the weirdest times. I was watching TV tonight when a little voice in the back of my head went; Onions, Onions, Onions. And all I could think was, huh onions? Because why on earth would I think of unions on a Saturday night while staring at that big box we like to call TV.

Than it hit me; I cut up some onions yesterday to go with my burgers and put half of it in the fridge to safe for later use. That by itself though wouldn’t explain the random thought of onions. Maybe my love for onions, especially raw onions has something to do with it, as well as the fact that I was craving for something to munch on. So I got up to get them from the fridge and eat them like a snack. Weird? I guess so, but I truly enjoyed it.

It might also be good to note that when I was younger, my mom used to put a cut up onion by the side of my bed when I had a cold to stop my nose blocking up so I could breathe easier. Not that it worked very well for me; in the morning the whole onion would be gone… I ate it! And to make matters even worse, I still put a cut up onion by the side of my bed when I have a cold. I still can’t resist eating it though.

Let’s face it, I’m a little left of center.

Dude! You mean onions! I was reading the entry, and I was thinking, “unions”? What does she mean by “unions”? Is she talking about workers unions? And then a lightbulb went off, and I realised you meant onions!

Lol. I was thinking what unions have to do with burgers until I realized you must have meant onions. :P

I love onions… raw, caramelized, baked, even boiled, you name it.Though it’s such a pain chopping it and then having to brush my teeth twice or three times after eating to remove the stinging taste.

I work in a union. I hope you don’t cut me up and put me by your bed.

I pretty much ditto everyone else. “Huh? Unions? Did something happen at work? Unions and burgers? HUH?!?! ..Oh wait… ONIONS!!!” That would be my thought process.

I like onions, just not raw ones. They’re only nice when they’re cooked. I ate some this morning actually, which wasn’t really that bright an idea considering my breath probably wouldn’t smell nice all day.

Me, a mistake ;) ? Maybe I really did mean unions, after all I am a little left of center..

But seriously, you guys are more awake than I was when writing that entry. I have to admit that I was looking at the word while typing and figured something was off but I didn’t know exactly what. Now I know and I think I fixed them all.

Hey at least you all got a good laugh!

Maybe you’re like an onion! Yes, like in Shrek 2. “Onions are many layered, complex…”

“Cakes have layers, be a cake!”

Amber on February 11th, 2007 @ 1:32 PM

Than I’d prefer to be an onion, they are healthy and good for your blood… cakes just add fat to your body

Chans on February 11th, 2007 @ 1:36 PM

I can’t believe you can actually eat an onion. Just the thought of it gives me chills. I use nosespray if and when I can’t breathe at night. Never woke up and ate it though, lol.

Onions… I hate chopping them up, but I love eating them! I especially like them crunchy. I rarely eat them raw, but when I do I eat them with tuna straight out of the can and a few drops of calamansi (acid orange). Yum. I’ve just made myself hungry :P

Nikki on February 11th, 2007 @ 9:51 PM

You would eat that much of an onion? I have problems sometimes eating small amounts of raw onions.

Janet on February 11th, 2007 @ 11:08 PM

i never really liked onions but that tip on having a slice of it by you when inflicted with a cold is something i wouldn’t mind trying.

Kaitlin on February 11th, 2007 @ 11:24 PM

haha… hmmn.. that got me thinking.. we always get teary-eyed when cutting up onions..do you know of any way to prevent it? I vaguely remember my mom saying something about putting a veggie or fruit (?) beside you while cutting up the onions. ack! I can’t remember.

Fatima on February 12th, 2007 @ 6:12 PM

Fatima–we learned in Home Eco that if you breathe through your mouth and not AT ALL through your nose, that should stop it. Unfortunately, I’m bad at it, but that’s what I was told.

Also, I like onions, but not the crunchiness. I cook it into sauces and stuff and the sauces taste so much better… ;)

Jessica on February 13th, 2007 @ 9:58 AM

Onions! Like in the book… Holes. You’ll be safe from the yellow spotted lizards if you eat them, Chans.
