Skyline Theme

It seems that I have a sudden rush for creativity (or at least something that has to pass for creativity anyway). As promised, I used the skyline image I drew last week to create another theme. It took me a little while to think of a way to use it in a layout but I think I somehow managed it, although I have to say I’m still undecided whether or not I like the result. One part of me says that it’s not really that great, while the other half says it’s OK. It’s far from perfect, and I don’t think it’s the best layout I ever made (I’m still in love with Spring Silhouette, although Purple Peace is slowly growning on me).

Either way, keep in mind that it’s still not finished, images have to be redone to make them better looking, and I will have to redo the header image as I’m not satisfied with the blurry parts of it as well as some windows in buildings. I suppose it’s just an indication of what’s to come. So what do you think of Skyline?

IE Issues! But yeah, I like it! Glad to see you took my suggestion of turning your art into layouts. :)

Ooh I like it so far :-) Works great in FF. I like how you split it up, very nice!

Amanda can you be more specific on the issues, as everything seems to look OK in IE for me…

And for the record ;) I already stated I was going to use my art in my layouts before you suggested it lol, but thanks for suggesting it anyway!

I really, really like it. It’s possibly my favourite theme out of all of yours, I think. I love the modern, fun, aspect to it.

I checked it in my IE and I didn’t have any problems with it. :/

Ooh I’m using the Sky theme now and it looks great. =)

In my IE (6), the content’s pushed down so that it’s below the navigation…like the width is too wide or something. I wish I could be more specific, but this computer sucks and I don’t have my normal resources at hand. :(

I get what you mean, I wish I had IE 6 so I could check it out but unfortunately I only have the latest version included in the plugin..

Thanks for mentioning it though, and I’ll try to work on it as soon as I have finished moving all my images around to the appropriate folders!

Fo some reason I don’t feel like the color bars on the right panel match. I don’t know what color that is (magenta?) but it clashes with the bright pink url color. I don’t know, maybe it is just that I am a guy and don’t know colors well. Hope that helps.

Jeff, which theme are you talking about, Purple Peace or Skyline?

It’s nice.

The only thing is there are some margin/padding issues, making this misaligned. And, I wouldn’t have the black borders on the inner columns.

Forgot to add, because it makes the headers in the sidebar a bit awkward to me.

Also I like how you sliced the image up at the Skyline theme. Your art is pretty awesome! On the skyline theme there is too much color though (IMO) The little pink arrows in the navigation and the little feed image makes it clash a bit.

Oooh, purple sky has some problems in IE6. The comments overlap 20px into the sidebar and on the single view, the content is something like 1000px below the header. I don’t think the colour of the comments match the header image or the general colour scheme. Maybe try some oranges? Experiment some more :)

Thanks for all the comments everyone!

I have to admit that both themes are still a work in progress; the feed image and the arrows on skyline are definitely not done yet, I’m working on different bullets etc. Also, I don’t think the comments stand out enough and I want to move away from the general box idea on skyline for comments.

Than IE6, I’m aware there are some problems, but I’m working with screen shots (or was my trial ran out I think) to see if it overlaps or not, unfortunately I don’t have IE6 as it updated to 7..
