New Theme

Yes you read that right; SB is going to be themed! I have been thinking about how to solve my little problem of not wanting to lose this layout, but also wanting to provide something new for my loyal visitors. Most of you (probably all of you) have never seen another layout up except the current one, and would like to see what more I can do.

Well, before you get too excited, I’m currently just throwing ideas around that have been in my head for a little while. One of them is a recent idea which I named Purple Peace. You have to bear with me because I’m still in the midst of creating it as far as the sidebar / footer layout goes. Everything else should be in place. I’m aware the header image needs some text, but that will be the last thing I’ll add, first I have to make sure everything else is fixed.
The layout is rather simple, but I think it’s pretty peaceful. When I started it I didn’t like it much but after working on it for a few hours it kind of grew on me. What do you think?

The current layout doesn’t have a name. It’s always referred to as ‘The Current Layout’. Well since it now needs a name for the upcoming theme switcher, what do you reckon it should be called? I’ve been thinking about it ever since I created it, but I can’t seem to cook up something that fits…
This layout will stay the default layout, I love it too much to let it go.

I’d like to thank Corinne for helping me out with some theme switching problems. It seems to work fine now :) !

// Edit: The default layout now has a name; Spring Silhouette.

“The current layout” as you’re referring to it has always worked for you, it’s lovely and not overly out there. Very calming, a lot like you! But I have to say, I really realyl like the image used on Purple Peace. I think you may have to add a few theme switching links to the sidebar!

As for names… I am terrible at coming up with names that fit, in the end I always just stick with the name or most prominent object in the layout!

I also am not very gifted at naming layouts – if it were me I’d probably call it “Blue Skies” or “Monochromatic Trees”. You know… inspirational names. (Okay, perhaps not.)

I really like Purple Peace though, not least because purple is up there in my favourite colours.

I like Purple Peace. :) For my blog I just stick with something simple. I might make my own layout sometime in the future, but I’m too lazy to really learn how to code around WordPress.

Purple Peace is really lovely. :) There seem to be a few bugs with the sidebar in IE (which is all I have to work with for the next few weeks), but I’m sure you’ll get that sorted out in no time.

Thanks Amanda, I’m currently still working on getting things right in FF and then I’m going to move on to IE, I bet it looks like something the cat dragged in right now ;)

Ooh I like the new theme! And indeed, I don’t think I’ve ever seen any other layout on S-B before, but this is really neat! ;) Purple is pretty.

Oooh nice :) I think I like the new one better because the text is easier to read. But I like how you’ve kept the feel of this one (the only way I’ve ever seen SB) but mixed it up just a little bit :)

Ooh, I like the new layout! I’m using it right now, because it’s different. I, too, am one of those people who’s never seen another layout except the newly-named “Spring Silhouette”, and so this is a big change. (Well, maybe I’m exaggerating a litte bit, but still… ;) )
