Christmas and Itunes

Christmas Tree 2006What else is there to do during a rainy, windy, can’t-go-outside-due-to-the-weather weekend than decorating your home for Christmas? Since this is my first Christmas after moving out all the decorations are new. It’s so good to sit on my sofa and look around my now decorated house and know I worked so hard to get everything that’s in it. Not only the Christmas decorations of course but everything, from the furniture to the paintings on the wall. Very satisfying. The photo on your left shows a piece of my Christmas tree. However I can’t take much credit for decorating that as my mom came over to do it for me. To be honest I don’t get much joy out of decorating the tree, I prefer to just look at it, and mom really enjoys it so I left it up to her to do it.

Speaking of Christmas, I know that most of us are spending lots of money on presents for our loved ones. Some of us are even spending hundreds of dollars on gifts this year and, of course, that is within our right to do so. But how about spending 99 cents of your money for gifts on a worthy cause (other than gifts for your family)? Please download the song ‘The Great Divide‘ on Itunes, all proceeds from this download will go directly to the Perinatal HIV Unit at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto, South Africa. More information about this unit can be found at http://www.hivsa.com. I’m aware that I posted about this before, but like I said previously, this is a simple way to help out and something I strongly believe in.

And if you can’t miss 99 cents for this download please help out by spreading the word about it. Through your website, forums, emails, the official e-card and video or any other way you can think of. Some of you have already quoted me, that’s wonderful and thank you so much for that! If anybody else wants to quote me, please use this, this or the current post to quote from.

After all, it’s nearly Christmas, the time of year that brings out the good in you!

Your first paragraph made me laugh.

Decorated Christmas trees are gorgeous, though! Your tree looks very pretty.

I don’t celebrate Christmas though so, I can’t really relate to the whole spending hundreds of dollars thing. But I like the idea of charity during this time of year. But I think it should be extended year-round, you know?

I just noticed we share a birthday! How cool is that?

Yeah it should be year-round, and that’s what I do, but this release had to do with World AIDS Day so that’s why I brought it up now (again). Especially with the holidays coming up people are more willing to spend a little on charity.

How cool that we share a birthday, you’re a few years younger than me though if I’m not mistaking (not that it matters but that’s what I noticed?)

Everytime I go to the gay bar with my gay homeboy I donate at least 5 bucks at the end of the night to the world aids foundation (at least thats what i think its called). And I go there at least once a month.

I found out why I hated Xmas before. Because I was either a) broke or b) didn’t have a great guy to spend it with. He’s bought so many gifts for my daughter and I so far and it makes me feel happier just knowing that this xmas will indeed be something special. :-*

That’s great Chanel!! I’m happy others feel that donating to something likes this is a good thing. For some it’s difficult to spend a lot of money on donating but with the simple download and the rather low price of .99 cents I think a lot of people might take that step and donate.

Ohh that is a beautiful ornament. I can’t wait to get my own place so I can decorate it myself. I will definitely download that on itunes. I am addicted to itunes as it is, so I might as well spend something on a great cause. Have you heard of http://www.joinred.com/ ? Gap clothing stores is promoting that, which is great. They donate a percentage of their sales to them. Hope you had a great weekend, Chans – take care.

I love sitting next to my gorgeous, twinkling christmas tree. It makes me feel so festive. Especially when the lights are turned off and I’m listening to my festive music.
