Truck Run Day

Today was the day for quiet a few people with a mental disability. Truck Run Day. Every year there is a route around and through my town (and surrounding towns) with big trucks and the mentally disabled are allowed to sit next to the truck driver. All along the route people are outside watching the big line of trucks pass by and waving at the disabled who are hitting on the horns of the truck.

All truck drivers and the companies that own the trucks volunteer to drive the disabled around all day, making it a big event and sometimes even decorating the trucks.
It’s so great to see all those happy faces, it really seems like they are having the time of their life.

If something to simple as driving a truck around on a Saturday afternoon makes so many people happy, and gives them so much joy it makes you wonder what you can do back to your community.

For those of you wondering what Holiday on Ice is; it’s an ice skating show which is supposed to be very spectacular.

Thanks for the explanation :) . Truck run day sounds amazing – I don’t think we do nearly enough. In my area we don’t do anything like that, and probably never will.. It seems quite sad.
