Five Years
Today it’s exactly five years ago that two planes crashed into the World Trade center, another crashed into the Pentagon and the last plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania after crew and passengers tried to retake control of their plane from the hijackers.
2973 people died because of these attacks and 24 remain missing. It really is a black day in history and not only U.S. history but the history of the world.
This is one of those ‘things’ where no one will forget where he or she was when they heard about the attacks. I had just started University and I was spending some time in the city with my new University friends doing some shopping. My mom called me to tell me about it and I didn’t believe her, until I looked up to the big TV screen at The Piazza. Usually they show commercials but this time, they showed the attacks. I don’t think I’ll ever forget how I felt, first disbelieve, than horror.
Today we shouldn’t only remember those who died in the U.S. attacks but everybody who died in terrorist attacks all over the world, and those who died in the War on Terror. And even if you don’t know someone who died in any terrorist attack or in the War on Terror September 11, 2001 is also a black day in your history, the day the world stopped to exist as we know it.
Where were you when you heard about the September 11 attacks?

It’s so shocking thinking that 5 years has passed since the attacks. Just reading your post gave me a funny feeling in my stomach because it’s such a terrible thing.
I only found out about the attack when I got home from school that day. I remember watching the news and thinking “Oh my gosh”.
What’s worse is that my school didn’t have a minute of silence today, when we usually do. I would have happily spent an hour thinking about it and thinking about the loved ones of the victims. It’s such a shame.
I was at home – guess what, ill, with a chest infection (the story of my life) – and I was about to watch “Neigbours” when “BREAKING NEWS” flashed across the screen. So there was the story – and we were sitting there for a little while when they said “Let’s take you to a live video link” and then we saw the second plane going in…. me being me, just thought they were showing a repeat of the first. But, no. So I saw it live.
It was horrible
My school didn’t even have a minutes silence this year!
Hm..let’s see when I heard about it I was about to go to school. I can rly remember dismissing the news prolly because I was already rushing. So..when I got to school, it was the buzz everywhere. =/
Anyways, that incident made me realize that there really is EVIL in this world. And that we shouldn’t only be concerned with our own problems. Okay, off-topic. XD But anyways, that incident really was an eye-opener. But in spite of all the problems, we can get through all of it. In every tragedy, there is HOPE. ^^
..I hope I made some point in there. Lolz.
I was nine. I was just getting up out bed and I went into the lounge room near the front of the house where my parents were watching a news broadcast on TV. I can’t remember if it was actually Sept 11 or the day after (time differences, you know), but that’s when I first heard about it. My dad was making jokes about it, but even I couldn’t see any funny side to it.
