Spell Check Anyone?

Before you read on I’d like to say that I’m aware that my English isn’t always perfect. Actually it will probably be far from perfect, but as some of you might know English isn’t my first language so I have an excuse ;) . However, if I’m not sure about a certain word I look it up in a dictionary or use a spell check. Hooray for my FF spell checker, I can really recommend it.

You are probably wondering why I’m writing this; I came across a topic called ‘spelling bloopers’ on a Dutch forum. You see the most ridiculous words and sentences there, that are taking from the entire forum, so basically they are written by other users. Most of these mistakes are in Dutch, but some of them are in English. It really is an entertaining topic and with over 1100 pages to read I’ll have something to do for a while.

This specific topic gave me the idea to start a section on S-B with all the English bloopers I come across online. Not to make fun of people, well, not directly anyway, as I won’t be posting any names or links but it’s supposed to be entertaining for all my visitors (yes all of you six people reading this!)

To get everyone going here are a few which I found rather funny. The section will be up as soon as possible but for now you will have to start with these;

A Person who’s not so smart herself wrote:
dumb store

I prefer to shop smart

Or what about

Quote:
Where did al the handsome man go…?

Yes, where did handsome Al go?

This will be the next #1 hit

A music lover wrote:
sakira hips donth lai

Don’t you just love that song?

I surely enjoyed them, although sometimes you really have to read it twice to know what they meant. To be continued…

For those of you who wonder about my arthritis, it still hurts me a lot and I’m still off work. The weather took a turn for the worse again. Every day I hope to be back at work again, although hoping isn’t very effective at the moment.

Yeah it’s not to make fun of people personally but to point out mistakes in a funny way without mentioning the ‘offender’.

So we can indeed learn from their / those mistakes.

Make that seven readers – have been lurking for quite a while, just thought I’d finally ‘stand up and be counted’, haha.

I’m really sorry that your arthritus is playing up – I hope you are able to go back to work soon. Next week, perhaps? I know it’s boring but try and get as much rest as you can. Take care!

And make that eight readers. I usually read your entries, but I’m a terrible commenter so I usually leave it at reading. =/

Aren’t Dutch people the best? Lol.

And I hope you feel better soon! Not being able to do something sucks.
