Colorful

Maybe this is a bit weird but I’ve had it for as long as I can remember. I associate numbers with colors. For example number seven for me is green, eight is brown. Every number under ten has it’s own color, the colors or somewhat repeated from eleven to twenty. Numbers in twenties are yellowish, in thirties they are gray and so on.
I don’t only have it with numbers, I also have it with days of the week and the months in a year. The colors match the ones from the numbers under ten.

Looking into it I came across a this explanation

Synaesthesia
(also spelled synæsthesia, synesthesia); from the Greek (syn-) “union,” and (aesthesis) “sensation,” is a neurological rarity in which two or more of the senses are interconnected, resulting in a more holistic experience.

From Wikipedia

The examples given here; music as a color or a forest as a poem sort of make sense, I can somewhat relate to it although that’s not what I ‘do’. Reading on there are some more things that make sense to me but also a whole lot of things that don’t apply to me. In a nutshell, after reading that article I’m still not sure if the colors and numbers are in fact Synaesthesia.

Am I the only one who does this or do you do it too (or something similar of course)? I don’t even think about it, it’s just the way it is. I was just wondering if there is a name for it and if more people have it.

wow, to be honest, i’ve actually never heard of that before. i was trying for a minute to think of a number and to see if a color was my next thought, but… nope. i think it’s cool though, makes me wonder what else the mind is doing that no one’s really known.
not the same, but i think i’ll share – i do have a very bad feeling with certain numbers, and i never could figure out why. for example, the number six makes me feel absolutely terrible, and any number that ends in six… 16, 26, 2,956. haha, but i do love the number eight. :D it makes me happy. i’ve got many things wrong with my mind.

but at least you have a “neurological rarity,” that’s pretty awesome. maybe some day you’ll develop a cool superpower with synaesthesia.

Wow that’s quite interesting! I can’t say that I think like that, I’m really not…lateral enough. MUCH too literal.

I think that is pretty cool. It is just a way to help you visualize things like numbers, which can be very helpful. I don’t think I am personally artistic enough to have a braing that thinks like that, but who knows.
