Ads

If you surf as many sites as I do you’re bound to find some things you don’t like. And if you like anything and everything you see you should really try to develop an opinion ;) .

The thing I noticed a lot lately is advertisement on personal domains. Why on earth would anyone pay for a domain name to get rid of advertisement displayed on sites hosted by free servers and than splatter banners of advertisement all around the page. Are they that desperate to make some extra money, or are they seeing it as an easy way to get rich.

Quiet frankly the only thing the advertisement is adding to your site is annoyance from your visitors. I hate them and preferably don’t go back to a site that has them all over the place.
When I first started making websites I was dying to get rid of those ugly things but didn’t have the money to pay for a domain yet. And now people are paying to display them on their site. It’s the world upside down.

Just like those email sign-up pages where you get paid to read emails. Yes I’ve tried them for a brief period to see what the ‘fuss’ was about. Well let me tell you it’s a big load of nothing and a whole heap of spam emails. One usually deletes spam straight away, or even pays money for a spam filter, but those people also sign up for these emails and actually read them. The only one really gaining from these kind of things are the people who set it up.

All of those things might claim you get paid a decent amount of money for it, but for them you’re just a cheap way to get their message out. Sure you might gain $5 a year for the advertisement. They call it easy money, I just like to refer to that as bullshit.
Basically you’re spending money, to be able to gain a little money through advertisement. Surely you spend more money than you gain so where’s the win in this?

But if you, unexpectedly, get so rich from the advertisement you’re able to buy yourself an island, do give me a call. I’ll volunteer to go test your newly purchased beach.

I don’t get that whole advertisement thing either. For one thing, you’ll probably only be paid 0.01 cent per click. And who wants to click on an ad? Seriously. It’s crazy.

I hate sites that are covered in ads. It makes it hard to read and it’s just annoying!

I don’t mind the ads as long as they’re done in a taseteful manner. Maybe a banner at the bottom of the page or a button on the side is ok, but if it’s plastered in advertisements, then I tend to stay away from the site as well. I suppose some people really need the extra $5. LOL
