Hectic

Photography by Chantal van den Broek - Blurry Sunset Things have been rather hectic here for the last week or so, that’s mainly the reason why I didn’t update sooner. Mom was on the waiting list to have surgery on her shoulder, they told her the surgery would be somewhere in December 2005 but maybe if she was luck y there would be an opening in the schedule sooner, although they said not to count on it. But on Tuesday morning the hospital called to tell mom that there was an opening the next day and that, if she didn’t mind having a different surgeon, she should be at the hospital at 10 AM the following day. Ofcourse mom wanted to get the surgery done as soon as possible (she was in a lot of pain before the surgery) so she agreed to being there at 10 AM. It might sound strange but I was really happy for her that she could get the surgery sooner, that way she would be healed sooner too (recovery will take up to about 6 months!). Anyway, because she had to be in hospital the next day, and had to spend at least 1 night there, certain things had to be arranged and appointments needed to be canceled, so things turned kind of hectic. I took Tuesday and Wednesday off work to help her arrange things and to be there on Wednesday after the surgery. Mom had surgery on Wednesday around 4 PM and had to stay only 1 night in hospital. She needs a lot of help with everything as she is not allowed to move her arm and shoulder. So it’s my ‘job’ to help her get up and dressed in the morning, clean house, cook for dinner, do shopping etc. Not that I mind, I don’t mind helping mom out at all. She did so much for me this is the least I can do back for her..
Needless to say mom is in a lot of pain, the took some of the bone in the shoulder away and fixed some ligaments in her shoulder / arm. She didn’t really get any painkillers other then a nerveblock before surgery (which according to mom, hurt like hell to get in, I’ll spare you the details but it’s a needle going into your nerves so they can get the medication there). So things have been rather hectic since Tuesday and I haven’t had time to update and to be honest I had other things to care about then updating a website too at the moment.

There is some good news though, I have a 6 month renewal of my UPS contract so I’ll now be working for UPS until June 2006 (and hopefully will get another contract after that). The other good news is that my car is back from the garage. I didn’t have to pay nearly as much as I thought it would be. The annual check up, fixing the stuff that was broken and some other small things were $200 altogether. Not bad eh? I was very pleased I can tell you that! I’m looking forward to driving to work again with ‘Cookie’. I drove around town this morning doing some shopping and I had to get used to driving my car again as I’m now pretty used to my dad’s car. But that was over in 2 minutes, it felt like riding a bike, even though you haven’t done it for a while you haven’t forgotten how it feels and what it’s like so you get the hang of it quiet quickly again.

I’ve added some books to my Library (online and at home hehe). Updated my buttonwall and added some more photos to Chantal Photography. That’s it for now dropsticks x
