Happy Birthday!

Photography by Chantal van den Broek - Candle LightI’d like to start with wishing Lindsay a very happy birthday. Lindsay is one of my best friends but unfortunately she moved to Canada 5 years ago and I haven’t seen her since. Ofcourse we spoke (and speak) on the phone and over MSN but it’s just not the same. She used to live in a town near me and we met at ridingschool, then she moved to the UK where I visited her a lot and she came to visit me regularly too. In the summer of 2000 she moved away to Canada right after we got back from our summer holiday together in Zeeland. The time difference is a problem to get a hold of each other too and ofcourse we’re both busy living our lives at opposite sides of the world but even though I haven’t seen her in 5 years and haven’t spoken to her lately because of everything mentioned above I still miss her and wish her a very happy birthday!!!!

Niki and I took mom out to the market and the town center in her wheelchair today. Her foot is getting a bit better now (nearly 6 weeks after surgery) but she is still depending on the wheelchair to get out of the house as walking a lot is still very sore. So we took her to the market to buy some fresh vegetables for tonight’s dinner, went to get lunch in town and did some other shopping. Mom wanted to check out a bookstore and ofcourse I went in as well. Which was pretty stupid of me lol as every time I come out of one I’ve bought a new book. Ofcourse this happened to me today too and I should seriously get a ban on entering bookstores from now on, as this isn’t my first book that I’ve bought this week  . Earlier I bought Stephen King‘s The Colorado Kid and today I bought Patricia Cornwell‘s Cause of Death. I read one of Patricia‘s books earlier and her writing style kind of reminded me of Mary Higgins Clark, who as you might know, is one of my favorite writers. The funny thing is that most of my favorite writers have written a series of books about a main character who gets involved with all kinds of horrible murders. Patricia Cornwell has written a series of those books as well (about Kay Scarpetta). But anyway, mom found what she was looking for in the bookstore and I found something I wasn’t really looking for hehe.

I’m starting work half an hour earlier today as my dad needs his car himself (mine is still not fixed) and he has to drop me off and pick me up, which he can only do if I could start half an hour earlier. I had some news on the car, apparently the cylinder valve has burned and needs to be replaced, this, depending on the overall damage, could cost me around $100 or $400. Needless to say I hope it’s only going to cost me around $100… The earliest they can start working on my car is Saturday and I’m guessing they won’t get it done in one day so for now I’ll just have to borrow my dad’s car until mine is fixed (YAY no paying for gas for a little while). For those of you who don’t know, I drive a little red Fiat Panda and my dad’s car is a silver Toyota Carolla Verso. And in case you don’t know what the big deal about that is. My dad’s car (compared to mine) is huge and is a diesel, and mine is pretty small (cookie jar size I suppose) and is a normal gas car. But after taking it to work for 2 days now and having to go backwards in a very small lane with trees and buildings on one side and cars on the other, I can now see I’m all used to driving my dad’s car. Either way I hope my car gets fixed soon as I prefer mine over my dad’s even though I don’t have to pay for gas with my dad’s car, I’ll keep you posted!

I’ve added April to the Buttonwall and my Dailies. You should really go visit her site, she’s a very nice woman and has a wonderful site (about all kinds of things as well as her family!). The Qbee Quilt has been updated and ofcourse Chantal Photography has new photos up. I’ve decided to go out and take more photographs over the weekend because the next few days I will hardly have time to take any. That’s it for now, later dropsticks x
