TOMS Shoes
Finally, after searching for a very long time, I have been able to purchase TOMS shoes. Now you might wonder why it was so important to me to buy these shoes. Well for every pair they sell, they give another pair to a child who doesn’t have shoes. This might not sound like a big deal to you but it really is. Your shoes protect your feet from cold, heat, cuts and bruises and eventually from getting infections and things like that. So shoes are really important but we don’t realize it anymore as we have 10s of pair of shoes in our closets.
The kids that get these shoes from TOMS are really in need of shoes. They sometimes have to walk miles to go to school every day and without shoes you can only imagine what it must be like to take those long roads every day without protecting your feet. Also, in many countries, kids can’t even attend school if they don’t have shoes!!! So that only shows how important a pair of shoes can be in someone’s life.
Since TOMS doesn’t ship online orders to my country yet, I can’t order it straight from them. Also a first time order online of shoes is always difficult size-wise. There aren’t any retailers in my country (yet?) who carry TOMS so I had to look across the border. Fortunately I found a chain of stores in Belgium (Torfs to be exact) that carry TOMS now. Doing a little research for addresses just across the border paid off too; they had a store only 20 minutes away from me!
Last Friday I got into my car and drove up to Belgium to get me a pair of TOMS. I’m now the proud owner of a pair of navy blue TOMS and they are fantastic. They are very comfortable to wear yet they also really support my feet. Even Sam likes them
.

So if you’re really looking for a pair of comfortable, affordable shoes and also want to help out a child in need of a pair of shoes; I really recommend TOMS!
Also, on April 8, 2010 it’s One Day Without Shoes. You can sign up to participate in this global event, even if you can only go without shoes for an hour or so. There are special events globally you can participate in or you can just do it ‘from home’ or even organise your own event that day!! I’m participating, are you?

Those shoes are pretty cool! I don’t know if they sell them here in NZ though…
