Susan “Fucking” Boyle
Last night was the final of Britain’s Got Talent. Susan Boyle, the 48 year old singer from Blackburn (whom I wrote about before) was expected to win the final. With the expectations this high, the pressure on her was enormous. Which I can totally imagine. Not only is the ‘whole’ country watching, the ‘whole’ world was watching to see her win it.
Just days before the final, British news papers tore her apart saying she flipped out saying FUCK a few times to people. Big deal.. If this really happened who cares? Who doesn’t say FUCK these days?
Apparently she was overheard saying this: “How f***ing dare you! You can’t f***ing talk to me like that.”
For that, I can only shrug and say that I have said the same to people who disrespected me in certain ways. I don’t take shit from people and want to be talked to in a proper way, and I know a lot of people who are the same way. If someone would have said something to me I probably would have replied with the same thing. Actually, I have done so already.
No one knows what really happened, what’s been said before she said the above. Maybe someone really did say something to her and she didn’t appreciate it. I can totally imagine it.
I just don’t see why it had to be front page news, why it’s so important who said what. They (the tabloids) act like it’s horrible that she said it, that it’s abnormal to say things like that, yet when you look around, celebrities and ordinary people alike say words like that every day. It’s part of our choice of words these days.
Yes, she is in the public eye, so she knows that everything she says will be weighed on a golden platter and made worse than it really is. But isn’t it time we kick celebrities off their pedestals (where we have put them!) and open our eyes to see they are only ordinary people like you and me too, who do have their bad days and sometimes have a bad choice of words?
What I do wonder about though, is if this little incident has cost her some votes that could have made a difference last night. By making such a big deal out of saying FUCK they gave her some negative attention right before the finals. Yet if someone has been in the media so much already without having won anything yet, you’ve probably already made it and won’t need to win to succeed anymore…
Nearly everyone has heard of Susan Boyle, but I have to admit I have no idea who the other contestants are. I’m sure they’re good, otherwise they wouldn’t have been in the final, and they wouldn’t have won. And although she didn’t win, I think it’s safe to say Susan Boyle can now say ‘FUCK, I made it!’

I never said they didn’t deserve to win, I never saw them so I can’t judge.
What I meant was that Susan might have missed a few votes due to the criticism in the papers a few days before the final and all because she said things most of us say.
I disagree with Susan only getting attention because of the way she looks and what comes out of her mouth. I think she would have had a lot of attention if she was a gorgeous looking woman, after all she has the talent of singing
Yes her looks are an issue and have been an issue since the beginning of the show but that doesn’t take away from her talent.
Personally, from how she reacted in the final, I think that Susan was a bit relieved that she didn’t win. That sort of media attention could be too much, especially as it started so suddenly. How the tabloids twisted this story is exactly why I don’t really like reading them.
I also think it’s ridiculous that it was front page news. Something like that is so trivial and doesn’t matter.
Boyle has discovered like many before her how the media will treat someone who losers there temper with the way use there rights and often cross the line to cover celebrities.
It’s unfortunate that these sorts of things happen to people in the media. I’ve always believed that celebrities shouldn’t be held responsible as being “role models”. The media looks to celebrities as role models for children. It is not their responsibility, it’s the responsibility of the parents. I, too, believe that celebrities shouldn’t be held in such high regard as to diminish their existence as human beings. They will display human behavior at all times, they’re not Gods. The media always seems to take things further than they should be taken and it’s sad.

I’ve watched through the entire series of BGT and I have to say there’s more then Susan Boyle out there. The only reason she got so much attention is because of the way she looks and what came out of her mouth. Quite frankly I think Diversity deserved to win, as they’ve shown consistent growth throughout.
Though I thought the little breaker (forgot his name) was quite good as well, a younger George Sampson, and perhaps even better once he’s a bit older!
