In The Bag

I love handbags, I like putting together an outfit with a matching bag, especially in the summer. Unfortunately my wallet doesn’t appreciate that much as most bags are rather expensive. So that’s when I figured I should make some myself.

I’m not very good at sewing them with a sewing machine, as I haven’t had much practice. So hope for some cute, cheap, home made bags where out of the window rather quickly. But with my clean up during the weekend, another option came up. Instead of finding a big load of money hidden on the top of my wardrobe I found my crochet needle and cotton balls.

Would it be really possible to make a bag with crochet? Without it being too difficult of course…. Well, I guess I was in luck! I stumbled upon Sugar N Cream and they have some really cute patterns, not just bags but all kind of things. Including some gorgeous decorations for the house.

So currently I’m working on a really simple but cute tote bag in a lime green colour. It’s easy to make, the balls of yarn are relatively cheap so I can make multiple to match my summer outfits :) . The photo below is from Sugar N Cream and it shows the example totes that go with the pattern.

It also a pretty fast project to make, I’ve been working on it for a few hours now and I’m already a good way into the design. I can even do it while watching TV, which is perfect as I always watch TV in bed after work so that way I can be lazy and productive at the same time.

From now on, I’m going to take one day a week and blog about my crochet projects. For now it will be the tote bag, but in the future I can see myself doing more crochet things as I really enjoy it.

What’s the last thing you made? Or if you don’t make things, what’s the last thing you bought that was hand-made?

Now, if I could crochet, that would be fun! Except, well, I can’t =/ I can’t wait to see more of your progress though!

The last THING I made. Hmm… Does food count? I don’t mean something easy like spaghetti. I mean, I make things from scratch which I can easily buy at the store… Like pasta noodles, bagels, etc.

That counts.. because it’s an artsy thing to do! And everyone can crochet it’s so easy, the site I mentioned also has details with images on how to make the easiest (and most difficult) crochet ‘moves’ in case you’d like to try it ;)
