Christmas is near!
And of course that means putting up the Christmas tree. I really love putting up the decorations for Christmas, lighting candles and all the pretty lights, but what I truly hate about Christmas is putting the freaking lights in the tree…
I have never enjoyed doing it and when I still lived at home, mum used to do it for me. In fact, the last few years she has done it for me, even though I live on my own. But this year I decided to do it myself. And boy did I regret that.
Luckily I put away the lights last year in such a way that they weren’t entangled, so that was a good start. But just the idea of putting the lights in the tree pissed me off, and I hadn’t even started yet. So, plugging in the lights to make sure they worked, I told myself it couldn’t be THAT bad and started from the bottom up.
After the first few lights I already got annoyed again, and to make matters worse, Sam enjoyed trying to grab the lights and play with them. Which, of course, pissed me off even more. It even got to a point where I wanted to throw the tree out of my window and Sam after it. And if you know that I live in a 1st floor apartment (or 2nd floor if you’re American) you realize that’s just not a good idea.
In the end I managed to not throw the tree out of the window (nor Sam) and to put all the lights in, and now I’m the proud owner of a beautiful Christmas tree with lights, all done by yours truly. And even though the lights are now in, I still hate doing it and I know that next year, I’ll get pissed off about it again…
And as far Sam goes, he still loves to play with the lights and other decorations in the tree, but I was prepared for that and got plastic decorations instead of the glass ones I used to have.

I just hate it when my mom overdecorates the tree and you can’t even see the tree anymore! She’s so proud of it so it’s hard for any of us to critique it.
Can’t wait to see your christmas tree. I adore to buy the decorations and my daughter takes a real pleasure to decorate it. We didn’t put any lights this year but we only used three colors; red silver and white! I understand it’s difficult to support the kitty in the tree . Ours (we’ve got 5 cats) are adults now and very quiet. They even have any look for the tree!

My family doesn’t actually celebrate Christmas in the strictest sense, so I thankfully don’t have to worry about decorations!
