Skin and Ink
I honestly never thought I would even consider it, but lately I have been thinking a lot about it and I have come to the conclusion that I just actually might do it; getting a tattoo. Surely it’s not something to think of lightly as it will be something that is permanent so I really have to do my research and be absolutely 100% sure of everything.
There is a tattoo shop at the end of my street. It’s always busy there and it seems to get good reviews so if I get one, I’ll probably get it there. Their shop looks clean and hygienic, their site looks pretty OK and they have a lot of examples of tattoos they made on there, as well as info about the after care of the tattoo.
Now of course the big question is; do I really want one? Right now I’m absolutely sure I want one, but will I feel the same in a few weeks time? I also know what I want but I’m not entirely sure yet as to what it should look like.
I’m thinking about getting an infinity sign on the inside of my left leg, above the ankle. But I don’t want it to be just an eight on its side, it has to be a little bit more fancy than that. I’m trying to find examples online and only when I find one that’s really to my liking I will get into the financing of things. There is no use trying to find out what it would cost if I’m not even sure if I want one and what I want, as it depends on the design.
I’m sure there are at least a few of you that have a tattoo; what tattoo do you have, where do you have it, does it mean anything to you other than “it’s pretty” and last but not least, did it hurt a lot?
Yes, I know, a lot of questions but those are the things one has to wonder about when considering a tattoo…
Ooh, and ideas of designs are, of course, always welcome, as long as it’s not too big and has to do with the infinity sign.

I’ve never gotten a tattoo… a lot of my friends are considering getting tattoos and some have actually gotten one or two. They’re more serious about it. I thought about it for a little bit but realized that first off, if I do get a tattoo, it will be a case of “everyone’s doing it so I’m doing it” because I’m personally just not interested in getting permanent ink on my skin. And I’m a very indecisive person. What I like right now just might change in a couple of years.
Give yourself a few more weeks. It’s not like something you HAVE to do within a deadline so there’s no rush… so keep thinking about it. If you find yourself still wanting a tattoo in a few weeks, go for it
Definitely research different ideas and try to put elements of different examples together and make something that no one else will have.
Inside of your leg right above your ankle sounds good to me. If I were to get one, I would want it right below my right chest, on my ribcage. It will probably hurt a lot but it will be more personal and it will be kind of like my little artistic secret. Damnit.. now I want a tattoo again. Haha
Good luck!

I have a film reel on my right hip which I got when I was 17. No regrets, and I don’t think I ever will. I hardly think about it now…it’s simply part of me, and as far as I’m concerned, I’ve always had it. (I’m a bit of a film buff). Simple black ink, no colour.
I do recommend: just have black. Coloured ink tends to run a bit as the years pass (e.g. it kind of melts into each other), so black ink will stand the test of time better.
Also: Keep it discreet. Sure you work at XYZ now, which might be cool with body decoration, but if you were to have a change of career in the future where obvious tattoos and piercings were frowned upon, then it’ll be a bitch covering it up every day. keep it somewhere where it can be easily covered up with clothing.
Whether it hurts…depends where you get it. Mine was largely on flab, and took half an hour. I didn’t find it painful at all. Others had it done on where there was prominent bone and almost threw up. It all depends on yourself and your pain threshold.

I have one on the inside of my right leg - above the ankle. I always wonder why people have it on the outside of the leg… it’s so impersonal (to me).
It hurt, but not so much that I wouldn’t do it again.
I have a tribal I drew myself. I still love it, I’ve been having my tattoo for 8 years now.
I wanted my tattoo for years. I always wanted it on the leg. For my 18th I got it as a present from my friends (as a gift certificate) and I wondered “maybe put it on my back, maybe here, maybe there??” The one on the leg was the one I wanted most and this, as I said, for a few years already. You have to be absolutely sure about it.
