Weather Perils
It’s really cold outside at the moment, with temperatures below 0 C. Of course I shouldn’t complain because it’s so much colder than it is here in many parts of the world but we immediately went from relatively warm days with rain to freezing temperatures.
And it wouldn’t be so ‘bad’ if I could just sit inside all day with my feet up and some hot chocolate but I have to go out and take care of the horses. The water pump and hoses are frozen shut so I have to water them by hand, meaning I have to carry buckets of water from the house to the stable and all the way into the field. With my arthritis playing up, it’s not easy. Although I don’t really mind doing it that much as I love my horses and want them taken care off properly.
The bright side of all this frost is that we finally might be able to skate on natural ice again. It’s been years since we could do that and I think the last time I did it was when I was still in High School. And maybe, just maybe, we will get some snow with Christmas which has been so long I can’t even remember the last time…

It’s gotten cold very quickly here in the UK, too, but only to around 3 or 4 degrees C, which isn’t THAT bad, I suppose. I’d love to skate on natural ice – haven’t done that in years. And it must be hard work with the water pumps frozen, but I’m sure the horses are very thankful for the extra care and attention you’re giving them
I am cold brrr…
I acually laughed when I read this:
‘ and hoses are frozen shut ‘
I thought you said the horses were frozen shut? LOL crazy!
yeah, winter makes caring for horses kind of sucky… I’m glad our pipes cant freeze!!

I feel exactly like you on this matter. We still haven’t had any snow but it’s freezing outside and since I live in the country I also have quite a few outdoor chores. We heat our house with an old fashion heater so we chop wood and such… I am amazed I still have any fingers left.
Have a good time with the horses. How I wish I had one but I have decided to wait until Freja is “less demanding” if it’s legal to phrase it like that when it comes to my own child
