Drawings

I spend my weekend drawing; yes you read that right, drawing. I used to be in a painting class and since my painting stuff is packed away until the sun comes out again (I prefer to paint outside) and the weather is too bad to go out and do some photography, I figured I stay indoors and try to digitally draw some things.

Because I was still crap with the pen tool in Photoshop on Friday I did a search for some tutorials that helped me increase my pen tool skills and let me create something really awesome at the same time. I came across Adobe Tutorialz and they had some tutorials up to create some nice things. So I opened photoshop, followed the instructions and got better with the pen tool. The next few images are the result of a few days staring at tutorials and a few hours per image of hard work.

Click on the image for the large version to do it justice (opens in a new window).

The orange image of the flowers is still a work in progress, I have to draw up some butterflies (no, there aren’t any default shapes used, everything is drawing with the pen tool!). I’m thinking of creating a theme with the skyline and maybe offer some of my drawings as wallpapers in the future.

I also added Lulla to the buttonwall and updated my Quilting Bee.

They’re so pretty :) I like the first one best. I’m crap with the pen tool–or anything to do with Photoshop. My friend told me that it gets real easy after you’ve gotten the hang of it, but I gave up and stuck with Paint Shop Pro. You should create a theme with the skyline :D and wallpapers sound like a good idea; I’d use ‘em :)

They look great. I also like the first best.

I never use the pen tool. Or at least, not yet.

Oh, those look great. Nice work.

I just blogged recently about a painting of mine over here.

I’m not so great with Photoshop or other computer illustration software. I usually just do the real thing – paint, paper, inks, etc. and just scan them or take a photo if I want to put it up on my blog.

Very nice! Since you’re theming, ever thought of turning them into themes?

Anyone who can actually produce something that looks nice in PS is pretty much a hero in my eyes! I like them all, although I love then Skyline one the most, they all look great!

Wow. Pretty. My favourite would have to be the first one. It would make an awesome WP theme too (as Amanda suggested!).

So as you can see I have indeed been thinking of turning at least one of them into a theme ;) . However I won’t start on it until I have finished Purple Peace (it’s not completely the way I like it yet!)

I really like the first picture with the city scene. You have great talent! I can’t wait to see more.

Really well done! I’ve subscribed to this photoshop tutorial feed and I saw that orange flower one but haven’t gotten around to doing it. In fact I’ve favourited 30+ and haven’t gotten around to doing any. I think I should though, my Photoshop skills are non existent. I think you did them really well, they would make great images for a theme :)
