Plastic Surgery

Last night I watched a documentary on plastic surgery gone wrong. The first question that came to mind while watching it was, why would anyone choose to have plastic surgery done to them by someone who’s not affiliated with an organization that stands for the quality etc of the surgeon.

Of course that answer is easy; money. Usually these surgeons do it for less money than anyone with a decent reputation. We all know that plastic surgery is expensive so we try to look for the cheapest surgeon around. But shouldn’t you do your homework before a surgery like that and figure out which one is the cheapest from the ones that are listed and checked?

There were some really bad stories, but what shocked me a lot was the fact that people go back to get more done with the same surgeon that just fucked up their breast enlargement. While watching it I couldn’t really feel sympathy for the ‘victims’. Sure it’s sad it happened to them but they could have prevented it by a. doing research and b. not going back to the same surgeon that just fucked up a previous surgery.

I’m not saying that what those doctors did was right. Even though some of them aren’t doing anything wrong by Florida law. All I am saying is it takes two people to pull a scam, one to scam and one to be scammed. No those doctors shouldn’t have done the surgery but those patients should have checked first and do their homework to see what kind of surgeon is offering his / her skills to you.

At some points in the programme I felt that some patients really felt victimized by these surgeons. Surely they are victims but some of them were acting like to say ‘ooh look at what happened to me, it’s so terrible boohoo’. Don’t expect me to feel sorry for you being so stupid to get it done, especially if you got it done more than once with the same surgeon.

So let this be a lesson; first of all be satisfied with who you are, everyone is beautiful in his or her own way. Embrace and love yourself, because if you don’t love yourself how is anyone else supposed to love you. Second, if you can’t achieve the previous and decided to get surgery done anyway, make sure you do your homework and find out who you are dealing with. So that in the end, you don’t have to feel like these people; victims of their own stupidity.

I’m going to get breast reduction surgery in a few years. *nods*

Let that be a lesson to all the girls who let vanity direct their lives.

I think plastic surgery is all right for people who NEED it… i.e. people who have been disfigured in some kind of accident or girls that are getting back pain because of big boobs.

Dad keeps telling me that my boobs will get smaller when I lose weight, but it’s not like I’m obese. I’m not even fat. I’m a few kilos overweight at most… so it wouldn’t make much of a difference. I’m considering breast reduction, but even if I really wanted it, Mum wouldn’t let me have it until I was 20… she said so herself.

that’s because people are extremely unsatisfied. some people just choose to live with it and others choose to try something stupid. :P

I can understand if someone does it for something like medical reasons or the reasons Jordie mentioned. Breast reduction is something I can understand too, as that is somehow related to medical reasons as well.

I’m not a big fan of plastic surgery myself, but if the surgery is necessary for health reasons then that’s fine. I can’t bear to watch those plastic surgery shows on TV…and I want to become a doctor! haha
Take it easy

I think I’ve seen that documentary too. What channel was it on? ^^

And I agree on it being understandable to get plastic surgery for medical reasons. I guess it depends on the situation whether or not I ‘approve’ of it.

Susie I think it was either on RTL 4 or SBS 6, I can’t remember. They both do documentaries on Sunday nights and I like to watch both channels so I would have to check the TV guide.
