Kids These Days

What is it with kids these days, they seem to think they can get away with everything. Of course back in the day I played some pranks on family and friends. The innocent kind of pranks that is.

But these days I see and hear kids getting more rude, aggressive and committing serious crimes at a very young age. Take these two boys for example, it doesn’t sound too bad, and surely there are small children out there that commit more serious crimes. If you look at it from another point of view however I think this is serious enough. What if someone got hurt. They obviously didn’t see the consequences of their action.

I hear a lot of ‘ooh that’s the youth these days’ going around when people talk about these ‘pranks’. Quiet honestly it’s horrific. Why on earth do we think this is or should be normal behavior for a kid.
The other day I was in a taxi on my way home and a six (!!) year old had to be picked up on my way back. The female taxi driver had to wait for a car or something to pull up before she could move away and the kid on the back seat said: “Get a move on, Bitch”.
Isn’t that just ridiculous? I was completely shocked by it.

When I was younger I would never have dared to see anything like that to anyone. Although these days you’ll find me cursing behind the wheel a lot of the time. It seems that ‘Please’ and ‘Thank You’ don’t exist in a kids vocabulary anymore.

Of course not all kids are like that, and we can’t completely blame the kids. Most of it has to do with the parents. Nine out of ten times the kids see this kind of behavior at home and they learn by example.

Whatever it is that makes them steal cars, be very rude to strangers, shoplift or even rape younger children, it shows that something is wrong and they need serious guidance or they will be off track completely by the time they hit puberty.

Maybe I’m just old fashioned but I think you always have to have a certain amount of ‘respect’ for older people. I always say please and thank you, and most of the time it drives everyone crazy when I’m being polite like that.
My parents did a great job raising both me and my sister with good manners and values. And in my opinion that’s what’s lacking quiet often in today’s upbringing.

Gosh I feel old after writing this.

Gaaaah! sorry about that… the message got cut off

Kids need more discipline these days… I don’t know if it’s because of parental neglect but they don’t have the sense of respect that earlier generations have. It’s so infuriating!

Kids these days aren’t like the older generations. For one thing, most of them are too mature for their age. A seven year old kid shouldn’t sit with adults and participate in a conversation. He/She should play with the other kids!

This generation is seriously growing up all wrong, I tell you. Maybe it’s the society. Maybe it’s the parents. Who knows? All I know is that, when I have kids, they’re actually going to be kids.

That’s what I want for my kids one day. Just be a kid and go play outside with your friends, get covered in dirt etc.

I also noticed that nowadays a lot of kids are dressed up as if they were dolls and if the clothes ever get dirty from playing in the sand or something, hell will break loose. After all, expensive brand clothes aren’t supposed to get dirty  …..

Don’t get me started on most kids today. What happened to the world that all this is happening? What changed between our childhoods and theirs? Are people treating their kids differently these days? It’s nuts, is what it is.
