Don’t say the F word!
Obviously there are people who don’t like soccer, or as they say in the UK, football. With the world cup starting in a few days there will be quiet a lot of people bummed out by the fact there won’t be much else on TV than football.
I’m not one of those people as I can really enjoy a game of football played by our national team. The other day there were some girls on TV protesting about the world cup football.They demanded they put Desperate Housewives, Friends (reruns of course) and other series back on TV and chuck the world cup out of the programming altogether.
While I can place myself in their shoes, we all know what it’s like when there isn’t anything on TV you really want to see and you don’t have anything else to do, I thought that was a little weird, to say the least.
But Chans wouldn’t be Chans if she didn’t find something just as odd or even worse. Or that’s what my friends say anyway.
Apparently there is a hotel in the UK that offers guests to be completely secluded from the world cup. If a hotel guest hears a member of staff say the word ‘Football’, the guest is offered a free glass of Champagne. If getting drunk is even considered a good thing, there’s only one way to do it. For free! Wouldn’t you try and have the staff say the F-word by ‘accident’, I sure would!
They even go as far as taking sport sections out of daily newspapers. Disliking football is one thing, but going as far as staying in a football free hotel for the time being is of a completely different level.
You and I know it both, this is a completely useless post, but one question remains in the back of my mind though, what happens if the staff refers to it as ‘soccer’?

o_o that is quite… insane. I’ve never heard of something like that! I’d say it’s eccentric, but there’s probably an equivelent of it somewhere here (in the states) that’s just as crazy >_>
