New Blog System
So I finally decided to set up the CuteNews blog system because I felt it was too much of a hassle lately to open up the html editor and type it all out by hand, close everything, and upload it all. Ofcourse I still have to edit some files by hand every time I update but I don’t to edit as many as I used to!! I guess hassle isn’t the right word though. I really enjoy writing on my site but with all the extra work during the day, and getting back late at night from work it has gotten too time consuming. This doesn’t mind I won’t ever switch back to manual updating but for now this will have to do. The only thing I don’t really like about this system is the ugly link at the bottom of the page. Ofcourse I understand they want people to have a link up to their website, I wish they just left us the choice to put a link on a different page (like a credit page). The only way you can get it off this page is to buy a liscense and honestly, I think they charge to much money for what this can do. So I guess I have to get over it and live with the link…
The last few days have been rather disturbing, Dribbel got sick Saturday afternoon and we decided to wait a few days to see if it would pass. He couldn’t really walk well anymore but we figured he might got kicked by one of the other horses (he’s always trying to play-fight with them) or something like that. But it got worse the last 2 days and we called the vet yesterday to get him checked out. The vet came today and her conclusion was what we already thought it might be, too much proteins which made his hoofs very sore and made Dribbel nearly unable to walk. Since Dribbel has been on the same amount of food for years and years and as he’s not overweight, the vet and I think that someone might have been feeding my horses extra food, or something they never had before, while they were out on the field and therefor giving them too much proteins. If you don’t catch this disease in time the hoof “bone” will rotate and in most cases this means the horse won’t be able to walk at all anymore from the pain and usually it ends up in the horse being put down.
LUCKILY, this hasn’t happend to Dribbel (yet as it’s still a risk) and he’s now on medication to easy the pain and to stop or stabelize the disease. I guess you can say that someone has been (unintentionally) feeding my friend to death…
For now Dribbel isn’t allowed on the field (and because of that, neither are Zita and Adanto) and in the summer when the young grass will be on the field, he’s not allowed to have any, or just a little bit as it’s something that might come back from now on. Poor Dribbel, I wish I could do more to make him have less pain. I wouldn’t want to miss him (or any of the other animals here) for the world. He’s very alert though, he sees and hears everything and he’s still walking about. As a matter of fact, when the vet gave him his first shot of medication, we put him in the muddy ground (our vet told us that’s really good for him, it cools his hoofs down and it’s easier to walk in for him as it’s soft ground) and he was kind of running around. So let’s hope things all end well and that he will be back to his good health as normal to never have this again!
That’s it for now, I’m going to get some sleep. And tomorrow morning me and Niki have to give Dribbel his first dose of his new medication, something tells me it’s not going to be easy hehe. Later dropsticks x
